I AM Lindsay Butler AND I DEFINE CONFIDENCE AS a promise to love, appreciate, and support myself.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?

I grew up in Beaumont,TX…if you know…you know, and I currently live in Chicago, IL.

HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DO?

I’m a commercial actress, model, and explorer of various passions.

WHY IS HAVING A HEALTHY GUT IMPORTANT TO YOU?

I have struggled with digestive issues for a few years now, and it has a huge impact on my energy, mood, and most most importantly my confidence. I think having a healthy gut is essential to my everyday goal of feeling and striving to be the best version of myself.

NAME YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT.

I absolutely love food so it’s super hard to just pick 1, but I would have to say Tocaya Organica is my current fave. I could pick a different item on the menu and eat there every day of the week!

NAME THREE OF YOUR FAVORITE FOODS.

Tacos…need to say more?

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE RECIPE?

Jo Cooks recipe for Coq Au Vin is one of my staples. I’ve made it so many times and each time it’s a complete hit.

ANY MAJOR WELLNESS MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE?

I would say my most significant wellness moment was about 10 years ago when I decided to cut out all red meat from my diet. I didn’t realize at the time how much it would teach me about my own strength and persistence.

WHAT'S YOUR CURRENT SELF-CARE ROUTINE?

I don’t have a specific routine that I stick to, most of the time I like to change it up, but I generally just try to listen to my body and let it tell me what it needs.

WHERE DO YOU GET OR DRAW INSPIRATION FROM?

Most of my inspiration comes from my daily life- interactions with others, nature, books, etc., and from my history. I’m very observant and think of life as a beautiful process, even the subtleties, so I find it easy to pull inspiration from anywhere…especially the ancestors.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOUR 18-YEAR OLD SELF?

Oh goodness, I would tell my 18-year old self to be patient with yourself, don’t waste time and energy on those who are undeserving, learn from the past your past, don’t ever doubt your intuition, and above all LOVE yourself.

HOW HAVE YOU KEPT UP YOUR CREATIVITY DURING THIS TIME?

I haven’t. I’m what social media makes you feel like is the minority. The people that are struggling to just put on clothes and get through the day with some semblance of normalcy and emotional competency. With everything going on in our country right now, my main focuses have been doing my part to bring awareness and create change, and maintaining my sanity.

HAVE YOU FOUND CREATING ART TO BE HELPFUL WITH EVERYTHING GOING ON? IF SO, HOW?

Yes, I actually started a digital print store on Etsy, called Colored x Love, that focuses on empowering others with uplifting quotes and sayings. However, I only create when the inspiration hits me and refuse to be hard on myself and push myself to create when I’m just not feeling it.

WHAT IS ONE SELF-CARE RITUAL YOU'RE LEANING INTO FOR COMFORT?

Reading a book while soaking in a hot herbal bath with a cup of tea…OMG that sounds so good right now.

DO YOU HAVE A QUOTE, POEM OR SONG THAT YOU WOULD DEFINE AS YOUR ANTHEM?

My life mantra has become “let go and let God.” I first heard Ana Rodriguez, Miss Texas USA 2011, say it in her farewell speech as I was competing that year, and it stuck with me. Often times I get so wound up in things I have absolutely no control over, and it’s so freeing to let it all go, give it to God, and watch things work out in my favor 100 times better than if I tried to do it all myself.
